Bubble trouble wowhead2/18/2023 Use binding heals when you and your target are both taking damage. When you get Prayer of Mending, use it before pulls on the tank, in situations where threat is iffy, and when multiple melee party members taking damage.Use prayer of healing if more than 2 party members need healing.Use renews on party members that are not going to be taking anymore immediate damage or on tanks during boss fights.Use shields and flash heals on targets when you don't have enough time to get off a gheal.Sounds like you want a gold star for mana regen. I don't know how you come up with being a team player by using shields and renews. Though the amount of threat to the caster is somewhat unknown, most theorycrafters believe that the threat is attributed to the priest on the cast. Shields are pretty mana inefficient regardless of your -10% mana cost reduction. Not sure why this is posted under the paladin forum but anyhow. PS: My main is a Paladin who has healed through every fight in SSC / TK and also every single raid instance pre-TBC. It all depends on the fight, my point was that spamming and using the same strategy for every fight is totally incorrect, and will end up with dead tanks. If you heal the same way for every fight, well, then your raid is going to wipe in every instance past Kara. ![]() Also, if things change mid-fight, you also need to change your healing strategy mid-fight. Reactive as in reacting to the situation, and not just using the same healing strategy for every fight. Perhaps you misunderstand the meaning I was trying to use for reactive. You should be careful to never underestimate that one in a million crushing blow that could potentially wipe the raid because your tank just took it up the butt and your heal wasn't there on time to help him recover. Wow, I dont even know where to start on this comment other than that to say if you try to reactively heal a tank in anything beyond kara you will find yourself with a dead tank and a pissed off raid. There are some cases when bubbling is necessary, but usually I try not to bubble my tanks, and I ask priests not to bubble me if they can help it. How would you feel if the tank kept putting a buff on you that helped him hold aggro, but reduced your mana regen? ![]() So this means that while the tank isn't generating that extra threat, the DPS has to hold back, the mob stays alive longer, and you wind up having to do more healing in the long run. Warriors and Druids both stop producing rage from receiving damage, making their threat generating abilities harder to use, and paladins generate a large percentage of their threat from shield blocking (which also doesn't work when bubbled). But all three of the tanking classes have their threat generation reduced significantly when they're bubbled. When you bubble the tank, it may be more mana efficient and thus easier on you. The tank might as well have brought a rogue with worse gear, because the threat generation capability of the tank determines the dps capability of the group. If I run with a tank that can only generate enough threat for me to do 290 dps without pulling aggro, that means that all of the time I spent on my rogue collecting the gear that allowed me to do that extra 10 dps is going to waste, because I'm not using it. Say my rogue can do 300 dps when he goes all out. Basically-if your DPS classes have to hold back, that means you're not generating enough threat. What this means is that a tanks ability to generate threat is what allows the DPS classes to DPS safely. Every second (or mana point) I spend on "not dying because I pulled aggro" is time NOT spent on "killing the mob". If my rogue has to spend time feinting, that's time he COULD be spamming the Sinister Strike button. ![]() Obviously the tank wants to generate as much threat as possible, because the more threat he generates, the more damage it's safe for the DPS to do. So every tank has to compromise between generating a little threat on all the mobs he's tanking, and a lot of threat on ONE mob-the one that everybody is hitting. He has to keep aggro off the other DPS classes too, but if you can keep ahead of the top guy, you're ahead of everybody. I know that sounds a little weird, but bear with me.Ī tank has to keep aggro off of two people-the healer, and the #1 DPSer. The real issue with bubbling the tank is that it gimps your DPS.
